the south bay arts education collaborative

The south bay arts education collaborative (SBAEC) is a group of arts education organizations and teaching artists dedicated to increasing the collective capacity to provide high-quality arts education programming to South Bay schools.

SBAEC provides professional development and networking opportunities for teaching artists and arts administrators. The Collaborative focuses on creating forums for teaching artists to learn and exchange promising practices and resources in arts education, and to promote further collaboration on new initiatives.

SBAEC Partners

The Collaborative is composed of several arts organizations and a growing number of teaching artists and educators. Partner organizations actively contribute to SBAEC program design and delivery, and play integral roles in the Steering, Roundtable, and Workshop committees.

Current active partners include:
- ARTPATH (San José State University School of Art + Design)
- Community School of Music and Arts
- Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley
- City of San José - Office of Cultural Affairs
- Young Audiences of Northern California

The Collaborative also has benefited from the involvement and contributions of additional organizations over the past three years. These organizations include: Art Docents of Los Gatos, Children's Musical Theater San Jose, and the Mexican Heritage Corporation.

We greatly value the contribution of Gail Newman, who compiled the SBAEC Blueprint for Professional Development based on her research and interviews regarding regional and national models in teaching artist professional development.

Please join us! The Collaborative welcomes teaching artists, arts administrators, educators, and community members who share a commitment to enhancing school-based arts education through community partnerships.
