John Kreidler, Executive Director
Prior to joining Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley, John served 19 years with the San Francisco Foundation as the top Program Officer for the Arts and one year as Acting Director. John has also served as Director of Administration for the San Francisco Art Institute and headed the Alameda County Neighborhood Arts Program. He now serves on the Board of Directors for CompassPoint and San Francisco Foundation Community Initiative Funds, and is on the Advisory Board of the Nonprofit Finance Fund and the Institute of Museum Services. John earned his M.A. in Public Administration from the University of California at Berkeley and has published several articles, including “San Francisco Arts at the Beginning of a New Century” for the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association newsletter, and “Leverage Lost,” an analysis of arts funding and workforce dynamics over the last thirty years.

Laura Jason, CFRE, Associate Director
Laura comes to Cultural Initiatives from the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, where she served as Senior Development Officer, responsible for corporate and foundation programs. Previously, she was the Principal of Grants Management in Menlo Park, Grants Officer for the San José Museum of Art, and Founder and Executive Director of the Bay Area Writers Workshop. Her career began at Ridge Vineyards, and volunteer affiliations have included the Commonwealth Club of California, Poetry Flash, Villa Montalvo Center for the Arts, and National Association of Writers' Conferences and Retreats. She received an Arts Administration Fellowship in Literature from the National Endowment for the Arts, and holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Asian Art History, both from Mills College.


Vanessa Shieh, Operations Manager
Vanessa joins Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley with extensive administrative experience from her previous work with San Francisco law firms. While working for a patent attorney, she helped draft, edit and prepare patent applications to be sent to the United States Patent Office. Vanessa also worked with various labor unions while she managed the office of Katzenbach and Khtikian, a labor law firm in San Francisco’s North Beach. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of San Francisco.
